James Sheeley’s love for teaching began at an early age when he and his mother, a teacher, would walk to school together. Spanning a career of 40 years, Jim has worked as an administrator and a music teacher in rural, suburban and urban settings. His educational experience includes public and private schools, and he has enjoyed working with extraordinary learners. Consistent in each of those settings is Jim’s commitment to providing the best opportunity for students to have academic and social success.
Jim graduated from Mansfield State College with a BS in Music Education, Instrumental Music concentration. He received an MS in Music with an Instrumental Conducting emphasis from Mansfield University and an MS in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey.
Outside of work, Jim and his wife are raising five children, two dogs, and a bunny. Jim has coached his children in sports for 15 years and has served on the boards of several youth sports clubs. His passion for music keeps Jim busy as a conductor and a trombonist of an adult community band. When not watching his children performing or playing sports Jim enjoys reading and spending time at the beach.
